In the Kasauli Planning Area, little road developmental works has taken place in the last several decades in spite of immense rise in tourism.

In the last two decades, across the length and breadth of the Kasauli Planning Area, the hospitality sector has grown hugely comprising Kasauli and its adjoining areas. On the Dharampur-Kasauli road, many resorts have been built and many more are in the offing. As the construction has been stopped in the cantonment town of Kasauli, roads that take one to the town are the most convenient substitutes. In the investor meet of 2019, at least 15 projects were cleared. Building these projects was at an advanced stage. This would add to the rush in tourism.

From the Kalka-Shimla highway, none of the roads leading to Kasauli has been developed properly. All roads are constricted and single-laned like the, Dharampur-Sanawar road, Dharampur-Kasauli road and the Parwanoo-Jangeshu road.

The recently constructed Kimmughat-Chakki-Ka-Mor road that connects villages to the national highway close to Parwanoo is a single laned road. Locals use this village road to carry their agricultural produce to the closest market.

Ajit Singh, a Delhi resident, said that it’s quite amazing that as the new projects of tourism have been given permission, the government didn’t succeed to plan road expansions in the right way. The current single-laned roads are not at all ideal for the huge traffic that they manage.
