From the tourism industry of Malaysia, an income of RM11bil in 2022 is being anticipated with 4.5 million tourist arrivals through the execution of the Tourism Recovery Framework (TRF) 2.0, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister. The changed target was done on the basis of positive indications in terms of the arrival of 2.3 million tourists in Malaysia in the last three months.

Datuk said that at first, it was above our target. Until the end of 2022, we had targeted two million but the country has already achieved the target before the end of the year.

In a press conference yesterday, she explained that perhaps by September, 2022, we would see more. We will reassess this intermittently. Earlier Nancy said that her ministry in 2022 was aiming to attract two million tourist arrivals with over RM6.8bil in tourism receipts.

She stated that to accomplish this, TRF 2.0 would aim on smart national and international collaborations along with empowering the local community in encountering the fears of tourism in future.

The plan, which had been enhanced jointly with industry players via Tourism Productivity Nexus, would give importance to the initiations of increasing the income of Malaysia through tourism.

This tactical framework of the tourism strategy draws round five i.e. supporting the revamping of tourism and culture businesses; and reinstating the confidence of the tourists and have a seamless international and intra-regional travel.
