In Mexico, international tourism has surpassed the levels of 2019.


INEGI, the national statistics agency reported that in the first four months of this year, international tourists in Mexico had spent around $8.67 billion between January and April 2022.


For this period, revenue of 2022 had beaten 2021 by almost 123.8 percent. The amount was 3.7 percent higher than the levels of 2019; pinpointed Miguel Torruco Márques, the federal Tourism Minister. This huge amount of revenue came from international tourism. Also, travelers to Mexico are spending higher amounts.


International tourists as per the report who had arrived between January and April by air had spent $1,153 on an average. It was an 8.8 percent rise compared to the same time 2021 along with a 9.8 percent leap in comparison to the same time 2019.


Also, Torruco Márques observed that for international tourists, the average expenditure arriving by land, air and sea was $745, which was just a 56.1 percent rise, compared to 2021. Also, it was a 30.8 percent sharp increase to the numbers seen in 2019.


In the first four months of 2022, around 11.6 million foreign tourists in total had come to Mexico. It was a 43.4 percent rise compared to the same time last year.


Still those numbers were lower than January to April of 2019 by almost 20.8 percent when roughly 14.7 million tourists from abroad had visited the country.
