In November, Sabah to arrange World Tourism Conference

Malaysia arranges WTC as it’s a special triennial event with the collaboration of the United Nations agency World Tourism Organization or the UNWTO.

The event is expected to be attended by around 700 international and domestic delegates. It’s theme – Tourism Futures Reimagined. The event would be organized at the state capital from Nov 28th to Nov 30th.

This comprises senior government officials, tourism ministers, academicians and well-known industry leaders worldwide, said Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister.

During a courtesy call to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, she relayed this at his office on Wednesday in Menara Kinabalu.

Of the event, this is the sixth installment after experiencing the success of five ones earlier. The organisation of WTC 2022 will happen via planned partnership between Sabah Tourism Board, Motac, and Sabah government.

As WTC was arranged in Kota Kinabalu 12 years back, selecting Sabah to arrange the event for the second time is kind of gratitude of the state government’s commitment to drive the tourism until Sabah turned out to be a major tourism destination of the world, said Nancy.

Hajiji said that he expected the international event will additionally speed up the tourism revival in this state, which was massively affected by the pandemic.
