In Pachamalai hills, the Department of Tourism is set to endorse adventure tourism. It’s a low mountain range located in the eastern ghat, in Tiruchi district.
To look into the opportunities of adventure tourism, from Rajasthan, a consultancy team visited Pachamalai of late. In addition to study the pattern of climate on the hills in various seasons, the team also looked into diverse regions, including Vannadu, Top Sengattupatti, Puthur and other locations. After researching on different facets, the team to the Department of Tourism is said to have given a report, defining the chances to promote adventure tourism.
The department, as per the recommendation, has suggested developing camp sites at Pudur and Vannadu. Both of these locations were found appropriate for building tent like accommodations so as to allow the tourists to stay for one or two nights by taking pleasure of the hill and its nature as well as the climate.
T. Jagadheeswari, Tourism Officer, Tiruchi, informed the Hindu that for eco and adventure tourism, there was huge enthusiasm noticed among the people. The Forest Department managed and maintained tree-top accommodations had been getting a good amount of support. As far as the camp-site initiative is concerned, tented accommodations would be built keeping in mind the standards related to quality and safety norms. At night, there would be facilities for campfire. Ms. Jagadheeswari said that there are tourists, who take pleasure in the nature of the hills with slightest facilities.
