In tourism, the private sector has invested $20 million in Sanandaj, located in the western Kordestan region, the governor conferred the same.

A private company had invested behind the building the Salavat Abad, tourism resort, Esmaeil Zarei Kusha on Sunday highlighted this.

The official added that the provincial tourism department is looking to motivate other private companies to spend in this promising sector.

Nevertheless, the government and connected organizations require allocating appropriate budgets as well for enhancing regional tourism, he noted.

The name Kordestan refers to the region’s local occupants. After Iran’s Turkish invasion in the 11th century CE, the name was conferred to the northwestern Zagros Mountains of the region.

It was during the time in power of Abbas I, the ruler of Iran’s famous Safavid dynasty that the Kurds rose to fame, having been listed by Abbas I to help stalk the assaults of the prowling Uzbeks in the early 17th century.
