Datuk Seri Santhara,the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, has said about India as one of the top markets for Malaysia. He said that in 2019, 7,35,309 Indians visited Malaysia, cataloguing a growth of 22% compared to the year before.
Mr.Santharatook part in a road show, held by Tourism Malaysia, along with RazaidiAbd Rahim, the director of Tourism Malaysia (South India and Sri Lanka) and GanneeshRamaa, the vice-president of inbound and domestic of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA).
Mr.Santharaopined that of the total travelers from India, approximately 50% are from the southern part of India.
Regarding the cultural associations of Malaysia with India, especially with Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Santhara said that the Andhra Sangam in Malaysia organizes cultural, political and religious events with a huge numbers of Telugus living in that country. Malaysia is a preferred destination for people from Andhra, saidMr. Santhara.
Mr. Santharasaid that therecommencement of slated flights from India concurred with the reopening of Malaysia’s international borders. Fully vaccinated travelers can take the pleasure of quarantine-free travel to Malaysia. They would no longer need to go through pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests. Malaysian e-VISA can also be applied online.
