India needs to exploit its potential as a tourist destination

India tourist destinationAlthough India holds a high potential for becoming a leading tourist destination in the world because of its rich culture, heritage, beautiful and diverse landscape, it hasn’t received its rightful status as a sought after destination due to the lack of research in the sector. This was established by the experts from the industry took part in the eighth annual India International Hotel, Travel & Tourism Research Conference organized by Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BCIHMCT) Delhi.

 
Around 40 selected research papers were presented at the two-day annual Research Conference.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Chef Manjit Singh Gill, Corporate Chef, ITC Hotels, and President, Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA) said that while India has everything that an international traveller looks for; however, the country has not been able to communicate the same to the world properly. He said that India needs development in marketing and communication.

 

Talking about India’s culinary heritage, Chef Gill said that Indians need to know more about their food and showcase that to the world.

 

Abhishek Biswas, Founder, Sattvik India Council, which work towards establishing a certification for vegetarian food, said that it is high time India has its own certification for vegetarian food. There were many other dignitaries who spoke during the event.
