India is presently one of the most prospective markets for Vietnam; however, the country needs to be better equipped for catering to the world’s second most populous country.

India is now among the 16 top tourism markets and also one of the fastest recuperating ones, according to Pham Van Thuy, the deputy general director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

In the month of July, there were 11,700 Indians tourists, which is near to the average monthly tourist numbers from the market before Covid-19.

Overall, in 2019, around 14,000 Indian tourists came to Vietnam per month.

Since March, Vietnam has permitted entry without any quarantine requirement and recommenced its pre-pandemic visa rules, as part of which Indians can apply for e-visas for visiting Vietnam.

Authorities in Vietnam are now allotting up to every day to Indians, marking a 24-fold growth from pre-Covid times, said Pham Sanh Chau, Vietnam’s ambassador in New Delhi.

Mini D Kumam, the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Hanoi, said that filming TV series and documentaries in Ha Long Bay or Da Nang City is quite popular now. Vietnam has indeed turned out to be one of most preferred tourist destinations for Indians.

Rajeev Kale, the representative of Thomas Cook from India, said that Vietnam is turning out to be a substitute tourism option for many Indians after the pandemic.
