India to introduce its first tourist train on Ramayana circuit

From June 21st, 2022, the Indian Railways is all prepared to kick-start the first train under the Bharat Gaurav Train Project. This new train will connect India to Nepal.


Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, this train will run on the Ramayana Circuit. It will connect to all the holy places associated with the life of Lord Rama.


This new train will cover up 8,000 kms and will connect Ayodhya and Janakpur, the two religious cities located in India and Nepal. Also, it’s the first train of the Indian Railways that will cross the international borders and encourage tourism.


A corporate business associate will help the AC tourist train to get operated, who will also be entrusted for providing the passengers with on-board and off-board services like meals, accommodation, and local sightseeing.


The Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train will have 14 coaches. They were refurbished at the Lucknow Alambagh Coach Factory.

Now, Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train brags of some of the best in class services along with facilities like beautifully designed interiors, onboard security, a kitchen car, and bedroll facility among many others.


An IRCTC official informed the Indian Express that the tourists will be provided with only vegetarian meals which are freshly cooked on board. There will be an infotainment system, along with CCTV cameras to make sure security is 100 percent on board.


Popular destinations which will get its place in the journey are Sitamarhui, Nandigram, Varanasi, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj and others.
