India Tourism &Industrial Trade Fair in Chennai registers record number of visitors

The 47th India Tourism and Industrial Trade Fair at the Island Grounds in Chennai has attracted a record number of over 6.35 lakh people so far this year surpassing the figures for 2019 and 2020.

On the 43rd day of the Fair, that is on February 18, 5,16,951 adults and 1,18,392 children attended the Fair, bringing the total to 6,35,343. On the 43rd day of 2019, 5,08,404 individuals visited there, and the total for 2020 is 5,58,333. The exhibition will run for another 24 days.

Every evening, enormous people gather in the Fire and Rescue Services enclosure to watch a display of how the staff rescues during fires, which includes a massive sky lift and other equipments like as cutters, ropes, and cameras.

Assistant District Fire Officer (Chennai North) R. Murugan, said that every day the demonstration was being shown from 5 p.m. onwards.

“We educate the public as to how to put out different kinds of fires,” he said.

Visitors to the grounds have been flocking to the Tamil Nadu Tourist Development Corporation’s (TTDC) restaurant, barbecue station, and coffee shop.

“We have a drive-in restaurant where movies are shown,” said TTDC Managing Director Sandeep Nanduri.
Mr. Nanduri explained how the TTDC intends to keep the Island Grounds active, stating that it was used 295 days out of 365 last year.

“We had the summer fair and the place was rented out for events, including the fire cracker bazar. This year too we will have the summer fair. We have planned a handicrafts exhibition,” he said.
