Indiatourism London showcased the best the country has to offer in its trade roadshow, which took place 17-19 September.

Visiting Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin, the roadshow provided an opportunity for agents to meet with several tour operators from India, as well as representatives from the Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB). Agents enjoyed a cultural dance performance and a taste of India and had the opportunity to enter a competition to win a trip to India.

Delegates from the Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi, were also present.  The head of delegation, Mr Vikas Rustagi, Joint Director General, Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi, presented an overview of the country’s tourism products. Rustagi attributed the growth in India’s tourism market in part to the evolution of its e-visa facility for tourist, business, medical and cruise travellers. In addition to India’s well-known cultural destinations, Rustagi also focused on the country’s diverse offering, from wellness and spiritual tourism, to adventure, wildlife, MICE, cuisine and cruise. The attendees included representatives from Flight Centre, Colours Travel, Howard’s Way Travel, Mina World Travel, The Travel Portfolio and Travel Counsellors.

Theresa Kelly from Not Just Travel, said: “There is a lot more to India than people realise and it’s nice to see an event promoting India in all its glory. It was a valuable experience to meet with a variety of suppliers and learn more about this beautiful country.”

Guests enjoyed a welcome drink and canapés on arrival before one-to-one meetings with Indiatourism’s partners, who included Sanyog Gupta Voyages, Tourism India Management Enterprises, Popular India Vacations, Vermigo Travel India, Atithi Voyages, Travel Planet, Aura Voyages; Glimpses Holidays, Lotus Trans Travel and Welcome Travels.

Ms Shovana Sarangi, Assistant Director, Indiatourism London said: “We were very pleased to meet with our important travel trade partners on our roadshow this week. India is welcoming record numbers of visitors from the UK and Ireland and we intend to connect with our partners there to continue to build on this successful relationship.”
