The Center said that the tourism sector of India will try to get back to the level before the pandemic by mid-2024, injecting USD 250 billion to India’s GDP by 2030. The government also said that by 2047, India wishes to reach USD 1 trillion with the help of tourism, which is the worst affected segment in the course of the pandemic.
This was declared at the end of the three-day national conference of tourism, which had the involvement of tourism ministers from many states, as well as governors and administrators from UTs, in addition to senior central government officials.
The Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy asked all states to share and make use ofthe best practices to improve the tourism sector.
Minister Reddy stressed that such conferences need to be held at the state level with district for developing and publicizing tourism destinations.
At the conclusion of the conference, the leaders embraced ‘Dharamshala Declaration’, which lays down longstanding and temporary goals for the country in the tourism sector.
Dharamshala Declaration-2022 upholds sustainable and responsible tourism, said Arvind Singh, the ministry’s secretary.
He said that India will play a crucial role by contributing toward worldwide tourism retrieval. All key tourism industries have started exhibiting signs of revival to the pre-pandemic times like domestic air passenger transportation and list of hotel occupancy list.
