ICPB announces 11th edition of Conventions India Conclave in Kolkata

The 11^th edition of Conventions India Conclave (CIC) was announced by the India Convention Promotion Bureau to be held in Kolkata from 29-31 August 2018 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.

Debashis Sen, chairman of Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) said that Kolkata will definitely emerge as a  favourite MICE destination because of the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Newtown and five star hotels in close proximity.

The host state and supporting partner for the flagship event is Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal.

Scaling New Heights- Building for the Future is the new theme of the conclave that will feature Kolkata as the upcoming MICE destination.

The City of Joy has been a cultural hub and now a brimming MICE destination.

Atri Bhattacharya, principal secretary of the state Tourism department said that it is important to explore the MICE tourism potential of Kolkata. Now we can see states and industries from around the world participating, it is important to show different facets of Bengal to  these opinion makers.

Various MICE products and services available in Kolkata and India will be showcase amidst 200-250 delegates that will include speakers, domestic and international buyers.

The three day event will see the presence of meeting organizers from various countries and Indian associations, medical-non medical, corporate etc.

Sessions on Public Private Partnership for Destination Marketing, Social Media Marketing: Changing Scenario, Impact on Industry and Way Forward, Bidding for International Conferences will be held.

John Martinez, CEO – Shocklogic, UK, an expert in event management technology along with other international speakers will throw light on the convention and their experiences.
Madhu Dubey, executive director of ICBP said that the objective is to place India on an international level as an attractive MICE destination. We are known for adventure, culture and wild life, wellness very few are aware of  it as a MICE destination. But we can occupy better businesses in the world as more and more infrastructure in coming up.

“We now have the support of central and state govt as they are recognizing the importance of the MICE and within a short period we would like to make Kolkata as a significant MICE destination.”
