A report published by a regional news media of India has stated that present luxury trains operating in India like Rajdhani and Shatabdi express are likely to be replaced by world class trains that would be smarter and faster.
The report also states that Indian Railways would be launching ‘first of its kind’ semi-high speed, self-propelled train set that would minimize travel time by at least 20% as compared to any train drawn y a locomotive.
Indian Railways would reportedly introduce two new world-class trains known as Train 18 and Train 18.
The Chennai-based Railways’ Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has designed sets of these two magnificent world-class trains. Also it would be manufacturing the first one with 16 fully air-conditioned coaches by the end of June this year according to the report.
However, Train 20 is expected to be unveiled in 2020.
It is likely that these two trains would be well-equipped with amenities including the on-board Wi-Fi and infotainment, GPS-based passenger information system and sophisticated and diffused LED lighting.
Rajdhani Express that was functional since 1969 can run up to 140 kilometres per hour or 87 miles per hour speed.
It depends upon a particular track section from New Delhi to the capital cities of different states in India. On the other hand Shatabdi Express has an average speed of about 85 kilometres per hour to 110 kilometres per hour.
These two world-class trains can travel up to 160 kilometres per hour and are both ‘Make in India’ initiative as mentioned in the report.
