The webinar titled ‘Exploring River Nila’ arranged by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India’s 17th session of Dekho Apna Desh on 9th April 2020 was about highlighting significant travel experiences for travel aficionados that are offered by relatively unvisited places.
Presented by Gopinath Parayil, Founder, The Blue Yonder, Anita Nair, Writer and Storyteller and Arun Narayanan, INTACH Palakkad , the webinar gave the participants a glimpse of all the remote towns and villages along the River Nila, alternatively known as Bharathapuzha in Kerala famous for providing authentic experiences to the travelers and explorers with selective minds .
The story ‘Exploring River Nila’ was presented to highlight responsible tourism which focuses on finding uniqueness about a place , the locals and their way of living and sharing it with the people who come to visit. The presenters threw light on local food, festivals, various forms of art, traditions and at the same time protecting nature, landscapes, heritage and community of the places that people travel to.
In webinar, the destinations showcased are located in Kerala’s Palakkad, Thrissur and Malappuram Districts which are connected seamlessly by air through Coimbatore, Kochi and Kozikode airports and well connected by rail and road as well.
The prime target of Dekho Apna Desh webinar is to promote domestic tourism. The Ministry of Tourism of India during lockdown is trying its best to engage with the stakeholders of tourism and country’s citizens to engage their interest in domestic travelling once travel restrictions are removed. The Participants in these webinars have included tourism stakeholders, students and the general public from all across the country.
