Tourism and Creative Economy Minister of Indonesia is all set to commence the visit to 75 tourist villages.
These are the same villages which have passed the curation process in the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) in March 2023. Minister Sandiaga Uno noted that this visit will be undertaken along with leadership ranks within the ministry.
They will immediately welcome the public and, joined by judges’ representatives, perform evaluations for the five categories in the 2023 ADWI.
This trip is also intended to promote the 75 ADWI tourism communities in order to boost the number of visitors and money generated by sales of local creative economy items.
It was demonstrated that in previous ADWIs, the number of tourist visits to tourism communities grew by 30% on average.
In 2023, the ministry will continue the 2023 ADWI initiative in partnership with numerous key partners to stimulate the development of tourist villages’ potential. This is intended to spark a new spirit and dedication among villagers who want to see their tourism villages evolve into world-class, competitive, and sustainable institutions.
This is due to the fact that the 75 ADWI communities offer a wide range of tourist attraction, including religious, green, maritime, cultural, and agro-tourism.
Uno saw it as critical to increase the role of stakeholders, especially regional governments, in this regard.
This can spur regional development and give rise to local champions who can strengthen the human resource capability of the locals.
“Let us develop Indonesia from the villagers. Indonesia is not the one that develops villages, but villages are the ones that develop Indonesia,” he affirmed.
Enhancing the local economy ensures the prosperity of the people, and it may also serve as best practise for other tourist villages, not just in Indonesia, but throughout the world, he said.
