Recently, Indonesia experienced a huge rush in tourists, after remaining closed for two years. The entire glory goes to Eid and easing restrictions. The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry of the country has announced about this.

Sandiaga Uno, the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, informed in a press meeting that many people are rushing to tourist sites from the Muslim population which is dispersed worldwide during Eid holiday, from April 29 to May 8. At this time, money turnover reached up to 72 trillion rupiah.

Uno also said that all Indonesia tourist destinations were full. Government’s approval on mudik for Eid might have caused this record rush, said Uno. In the country, Eid al-Fitr is the biggest Muslim celebration. It marks the end of Ramadan. Going homewards or mudik, is an annual tradition for the Muslims living in Indonesia, where people go to their hometowns to spend family time.

The Indonesian Transportation Ministry in 2022 calculated that there were no fewer than 85 million people who went on mudik. They travelled on holiday as the government had already eased social restrictions.

Uno also said that the most preferred tourist destinations with record rush were Ancol Dreamland Park located in North Jakarta, Bali, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah cultural park in East Jakarta.

During this festive time of Eid, Bali alone became the money turnover giant and reached 250 billion rupiah, according to Uno.
