Today, the export tourism industry of Australia greeted the declaration of the reopening of international borders from November. This move will be viewed as the first phase of the roadmap for reopening international borders for both outbound and inbound travel.

However, the statement confirmed that in November, restrictions will be lifted only for fully vaccinated Australians on all inbound and outbound travel from states that reach the 80 per cent double vaccination rate.

The announcement for today focused on travel for fully vaccinated Australians. This move will pave the way for inbound travel restart. The industry is eager to see this commencement of the sector by March 2022, providing a chance for the inbound tourism industry to revive.

“While the announcement is the first step in the reopening, giving the green light to Australian’s wanting to travel overseas, it marks a shift in thinking within both the Government and community sentiment to re-engaging with the world,” ATEC Managing Director Peter Shelley said.
