International tourist arrival increased but not of the level of 2019

Govt spells out two-sided plan to recover the number of tourists, however, the industry advises low interest in India.

Arrivals of international tourists are increasing every month with the recommencement of scheduled international flights from the end of March followed by easing of test rules and policies related to Covid-19 in February 2022. Still, the numbers are still quite low, compared to the levels of 2019.

Gen. V.K.Singh, retired minister of state for civil aviation, in a written respond to a question about whether country’s majority of airlines are providing seats to the passengers on lieu of payment in the name of online check prior to traveling.

For international residents without travel documents, Kerala High Court has instructed the state government to build temporary detention centers within two months for these types of travelers.

On Monday, Singapore Tourism Board organized a roadshow in Kolkata. The main target was to draw more tourists from India in the coming days. The show also displayed about the new attractions which the country is providing for the Indian visitors.
