According to the recent data published by Christchurch Airport which shows that the international visitor arrivals has increased up to 11 percent from last year, which is almost 206,000.
Over summer, the international tourists injected more than three and a half million dollars into the region’s economy, with February tourism up 20 percent in January.
Caroline Blanchfield, Christchurch NZ Industry partnerships manager said that it is really a good thing for the booming of the tourism economy. As the international tourist arrivals are climbing up, the tourists’ expenditure is in peak.
He also said that it is after a long time, the tourism industry here is publishing. The hard work of the industry professionals are behind this. With the booming of tourists’ arrivals in Christchurch, the Tourism New Zealand is also flourishing and this is a positive turn.
Blanchfield is also happy about the flourishing of tourism business here. He also said that the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment figures show that the international tourists spent $416 million in the region, second only to Auckland.
