Ireland tourism is keen on developing electric car infrastructure

By the end of June, the tourism agency in Ireland has planned to complete a study of the country’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

A recent rise in electric car sales might require major changes in the way tourists travel across the country, as per the Irish tourism industry.

Tourism officials have started planning for a fast growth in electric cars in the coming years as climate change ushers in changes to the way visitors will explore Ireland.

Tourism officials are seeking views on the way EVs are going to change Ireland’s travel sector.

“Failte Ireland is looking to the government’s ambitious plans for a substantial increase in the number of electric vehicles on our roads by 2030,” a spokesperson said.

By 2030, Ireland is set to have one million electric vehicles on the roads.

“In anticipation of this, we recognise it will change how both domestic and international visitors tour around Ireland to enjoy attractions and landscapes,” the spokesperson said.

“This study is the first baseline attempt to understand what these changes might look like and help us consider what developments might be necessary as a result.”
