On sunday Israel made it official that they will no longer continue with the virus quarantine system and keep the borders closed for tourist. Officials further added that the citizens, residents and foreign workers who have returned from 20 countries would no longer have to follow the 14-day coronavirus quarantine period, and kept its borders closed to tourists.

The Health ministry created a list of 20 “green” countries identifying a low novel coronavirus risk, including United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Canada, Jordan, Hong Kong, Rwanda and Cyprus. The new normal situation have impacted on Israeli decisions in a unique way and based on the reports of active virus cases they have drafted two lists, the green and red, identifying low and high number of cases in the countries around the world.

The ministry made it clear that people returning from the list of green countries will no longer have to follow the covid quarantine system. However, the rules will be only applicable to the Israeli citizens and foreigners who have residency status or work visas in Israel. The border of the country will remain closed for regular tourism.

They have also mentioned that owing to high Covid-19 cases, United States is on the “red” countries list, so travellers from the country will have to follow the 14 days quarantine norm on arrival.

As of now, Israel has over 92,000 COVID-19 cases within its nine million populations, with fewer than 700 deaths. Israel has been trying to fight coronavirus pandemic in a systematic way.
