The Embassy of Israel in India has opened a Kolkata Israel Visa Application Centre for West Bengal and North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
Along with this visa applications in jurisdiction under the New Delhi centre are also acceptable at the new Kolkata Centre.
Individuals can avail employment, business, tourism, meeting or conference visa.
Hasan Madah, Director of Israel Ministry of Tourism India and Philippines said that Israel saw a tourism boom and India showed a recorded half year growth of 82% as compared to 2015. India is a fast growing performing market in Asia for Isreal.
The Ministry constantly aims at introducing initiatives that ease out the procedure of visa applications to Isreal. With the launch of the centre in Kolkata the residents from West Bengal and North Eastern states need not send their documents to the Embassy in New Delhi.
A reduction in visa fees was also announced and in December last year, relaxed visa documentation was brought in for application who already availed visas of Schengen countries or travelled US, Canada, Australia or Israel.
A roadshow will be held by the Ministry of Tourism in Kolkata on 29th August so that more people know about the destination. Earlier in May a road show was organised in Guwahati.
