Israel Embassy selects the new director of tourism in Philippines

Ministry of Tourism Israel has declared Sammy Yahia’s selection as the new Director of Tourism for India and the Philippines markets valuable this June.


He will be entrusted to head the tourism board’s efforts in the Philippines at the same time supervising the development of strategies to fortify reputation of Israel as a first-class tourism and travel destination in the world.


A winning marketer by profession, from 2012 to May 2019, before his appointment to India and the Philippines, Yahia was the Director of Marketing and Communications for Israel Ministry of Tourism. During his tenure there, he was awarded “Employee of the Year-Civil Service Commission”. He also received a certificate of appreciation from the Minister of Tourism and the Director General for his precious contributions. With an MBA degree in Marketing and Communication from the University of Derby, Yahia has his BA in Social Sciences, Sociology and Anthropology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.


To the role, the new director brings in huge expertise and know-how with widespread and holistic experience in tourism marketing, strategic government relations and investment facilitation. He will be involved in incorporating the ideologies of the travel industry of Israel with the Philippine market to assist effectual marketing strategies for the destination in Philippines. Being at the helm, Yahia will aid in maximizing all chances to attain continued growth in tourism arrivals from Philippines.


Commenting on his appointment, Yahia said, “I am delighted to take on this new position and look forward to working closely with various partners in the Philippines by building on existing partnerships alongside initiating new ones. The Philippines has a rich heritage, culture and history and is an exciting market for me to take charge of. I foresee many opportunities for us to push boundaries and reinvent the ever evolving Filipino traveler influenced by globalization”.
