With the Caribbean aiming to re-evaluate its advancement models and reinforce areas of operational collaboration with non-traditional associates, Andrew Holness, Jamaica’s Prime Minister said that collaboration with African countries could give rise to new and surprising opportunities.

Holness addressed the formal opening event of the Global Tourism Resilience Conference held at the University of the West Indies regional headquarters in Kingston. There, he spoke about the unexplored prospect of the continent.

Holness said that while the African continent is moving its interest and attention toward tourism, which can drive financial growth, given the country’s abundant cultural inheritance, wildlife and natural assets, there are still many obstructions that limit these efforts.

The tourism segment in Africa is somewhat less developed; however, it offers a huge potential for growth and development.

As per Holness, the conference offers a big scope to holistically take into account the requirements of African destinations and to get a good knowledge of the efforts, assets and funding that need to be focused for realizing them.
