The Jamaica Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett in a conference with high-ranking directors and consultants of the Commonwealth Secretariat, urged for making use of tourism convergence for repositioning the Commonwealth. Minister Bartlett’s call is in tune with destinations internationally continuing their efforts toward revival as an aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edmund Bartlett said that tourism is a convergence of several economic doings and social activities and is motivated by intake. Tourism also possesses most rapid convertibility rate among all industries; hence, it is the swiftest way to create foreign exchange away from grants.

The Commonwealth, which has 56 countries, 2.5 billion people and a big group of extremely tourism reliant countries along with large countries, is a huge scope for tourism union as a tool for retrieval, said Minster Bartlett.

The Commonwealth is a union of 56 countries working toward joint aims of opulence, democracy and concord. The Commonwealth Secretariat is a-level organization coordinating and carrying out majority of the work of the Commonwealth, buoyed by a system of more than 80 organizations.

The minister said that it is the best time for them to work together within the Commonwealth for assisting the retrieval of tourism via planned approaches like consistent visa procedures, growing air connectivity, expansion of multi destination capabilities and human capital improvement to shape capability.

Jamaica will be hosting the World Travel Awards Caribbean & The Americas Gala Ceremony 2022 on the 31st of this month.
