Janice Tan appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at Vakkaru Maldives

Janice Tan has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at Vakkaru Maldives. She comes with nearly two decades of experience in the luxury hospitality industry. Besides her recognised work in Beijing and Singapore, she is also known for having key roles at some of Maldives’ leading resorts.

Janice began her career at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok and held some prestigious leadership roles. She was one of the main hands behind the launch of some of the well-known luxury resorts in the Maldives including Anantara Naladhu. Back then she was serving as Anantara Group’s Cluster Director of Public Relations. She also worked as Director of Sales and Marketing at Velaa Private Island and Accor’s Raffles Maldives Meradhoo.

She was also associated with COMO Hotels and Resorts’ COMO Maalifushi and COMO Cocoa Island where she was Regional Director of Sales and Marketing. Tan is currently based both in Singapore and the Maldives and was raised by parents who worked in the aviation industry. Due to the association, she has an experience in extensive travelling and has lived in Switzerland, Italy, Greece, the U.S. and France throughout her life. She received her academic degree from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris while working at the three-Michelin-starred Restaurant Georges Blanc in order to pursue her love for gastronomy. In addition, Janice enjoys practising Pilates, qigong movements, yoga and meditation.

She takes up her new role in Vakkaru Maldives with an enhanced understanding of the specialities of holidaying in an idyllic island nation. As a veteran with years of experience in the sales and marketing industry, Janice comes with a wealth of knowledge, vision and connections. Her role in the property will inevitably help the company to define certain strategies that will ensure that the resort is recognised as one of the world’s preeminent retreats.
