Japan expects to revive inbound tourism

Satoshi Seino, the president of the Japan National Tourism Organization, voiced his wish to attain retrieval concerning the number of incoming tourists after Japan started relaxing its COVID-19 border constraints.


Seino opined that it is time to make a fresh start, at a gathering hosted by the Research Institute of Japan.


Expenditure by foreign visitors contributes considerably to support the Japanese economy, said Seino. He emphasized the significance of attracting visitors exclusively from the Western countries.


Such spending is expected to have plunged to somewhat beyond 120 billion yen in 2021 compared tomore than 4.8 trillion yen in 2019.


Foreign tourist spending used to be Japan’s main source of earnings from abroad right after exports of automobiles and chemical products, added Seino.
