Japan government wishes to contribute for improvement of North East India and Manipur

north east india mapThe Japan government wishes to donate actively for the improvement of connectivity and economic and social development of the North Eastern region including Manipur.

The Japan Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu said, “The PMs of Japan and India have already agreed to enhance cooperation that contributes to the connectivity of the NE region such as road network construction projects. Some of the projects have already been initiated.” He added, “I strongly hope that the newly established State Government of Manipur, in cooperation with the Centre as well as the governments of neighbouring States, will create a favourable environment where Japan can cooperate in a variety of field.”

Japan also aims to extend its assistance for developing road connectivity, tourism, cleaning of Loktak Lake and school education, sanitation and sewerage system in Scheduled Tribe areas, etc., during a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The CM on his part assured that his government will cooperate fully and provide security whenever Japan takes up any venture in the State.

The Japanese Ambassador and the Chief Minister also discussed mutual cooperation between Japan and Manipur in areas like skill development and employment opportunities in Japan, especially in the fields of nursing and manufacturing sectors.

The meeting also discussed various options to ease traffic congestion in Imphal city. The presentation threw light on the Cable Car Projects to be developed between Cheiraoching and Ibudhou Marjing hill, while the second project will connect Sendra Hillock with Chaoba Ching at Loktak Lake.
