Javier Ferran appointed new IAG Chairman

International Airlines Group, the parent company to airlines including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Vueling has officially appointed Javier Ferran as the new Chairman of the company after Antonio Vazquez retired as the Director of the company and Chairman of the Board.


Speaking about his latest role Ferran said in a press statement that Antonio was instrumental in the creation and development of IAG and has led the board with integrity and rigour since the group’s formation in January 2011. He mentioned that Antonio has made a huge contribution to IAG and, previously, in his role as president of Iberia.


He also thanked Antonio for his commitment and support and wished him well for his future on behalf of the board. Vazquez added that leading IAG’s board has been a matter of great honour to him and thank his board colleagues for their confidence and support, and the IAG management and staff for their great contribution every day. He also shared that he is convinced that IAG will continue developing sustainably, while adhering to corporate governance best practice under the leadership of Javier Ferran and Luis Gallego.
