Jianyang city of China partners with Semarang

indexLately, Jianyang city in China sent representatives to Semarang to put forward a plan of collaboration between the two cities following the split in Croatia and Ulsan in South Korea.

Semarang has historic contribution with China as portrayed in the story of Admiral Cheng Ho who arrived in Semarang, mentioned by the delegates’ leader Yang Xin Qiangs. In current context, the Sam Poo Kong which is alternatively known as Gedung Batu Temple has been constructed in Simongan, Gedung Batu, not quite distanced from the Banjir Kanal Barat River which pours out sin the Java Sea.

To quote Yang Xin Qiang, “I hope a partnership deal between Semarang and Jianyang can be established. In terms of tourism, both cities have interesting tourist destinations.”

Semarang mayor Hendrar Prihadi took the intentions of the delegates on a positive note and expressed that the city has plethora of attractions to attract the Chinese. The category such as religious tourism that covers Central Java Grand Mosque, The Semarang Grand Mosque (Kauman) and Sam Poo Kong temple deserves mention. An additional category is the city-based tourist attractions like Lawang Sewu and Old Town. In terms of education tourism like Mangkang Zoo, Catfish Park, Mandala Bhakti Museum and lastly culinary tourism in Pandanaran respectively.

To quote Prihadi, “We’re currently developing Kalipancur Waterfall and Rainbow Village consisting of 390 houses painted in attractive, eye-catching colors. We are invited by Jianyang to make a follow-up visit to the city in November, and we’re taking a few entrepreneurs from Semarang with us.”
