J&K Department of Tourism organizes painting competition at Deccan College Pune

Promoting tourism via art and as part of its outreach programme with travel community of Pune, the Department of Tourism J&K held a painting competition titled, “Drawing Paradise” at Deccan College Pune. Students from various city colleges took part in the competition.


Students of BharatiVidyapeeth College of Fine Arts took part in the competition and portrayed different off-beat tourist destinations of J&K. The drawing competition was organized on the sidelines of the India International Travel Mart Pune and became a major attraction at the travel Mart, drawing attention of incoming visitors.


Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo visited the venue and encouraged the students for taking part in the competition. He distributed prizes among the winners.


The highlight of the competition was the depiction of the landscape of Sonamarg by a 12- year-old artist.


The Director Tourism said that the Department is planning to promote the 75 mesmerizing but lesser-known destinations in a big way and to encourage Pune-based holidaymakers to visit J&K. He also spoke about other measures taken by the Department for revivingtourism which have brought in record domestic tourist footfall during the previous months.


The event was aimed toward showcasing the tourist attractions of J&K and to invite travelers to visit the region.
