The tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir is now ready to focus on Malaysia and Thailand to invite foreign tourists after they receive ‘satisfactory’ number of tourists from both these nations in the last two years.

This department has 25 other states in its list of targets.
Mahmood A Shah who is the Director of Tourism feels that both the countries Thailand and Malaysia contribute a large portion of their foreign arrivals. This apart, they do not have any advisory in both these countries.
He said that tourists from both these countries have chosen Kashmir as a destination even during the last years of ‘uncertainty’ in the valley.
Shah mentioned that they had come in huge numbers, particularly Malaysians. Thailand is on second number in the list.
He said that the promotional activities were being held in collaboration with Travel Trade Federation (TTF) that is scheduled to commence later this month.
He also went on to state that the activities would comprise road shows that they would be organizing since last many years. He asserted that they had held about 10 to 15 shows in India itself.
