Tori Barnes, the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Policy for the U.S. Travel Association issued statement on the introduction of the Jobs Originated through Launching Travel (JOLT) Act of 2019.
In 2018 the international inbound travel was a key factor to America’s job growth and the international travel spending supported 1.2 million American jobs and $33.4 billion in wages.
It is expected that the JOLT Act will be providing a ‘jolt’ to the American economy and workforce. There will be critical enhancements to inbound travel along with measures to increase both the security and efficiency of the U.S. visa process.
The most important tools for increasing secure travel to the United States is the Visa Waiver Program which the bill would re-designate as the Secure Travel Partnership.
Its value as a national security instrument will be strengthen by the renaming of program and other provisions in the legislation will facilitate the arrival of qualified international visitors who shape the American economy.
