jordanThe Middle Eastern county, Jordan launches the sustainable tourism map as the county is focusing more on enhancing travel and tourism industry along with a mission to save the environment.

The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) along with the American non-profit organisation, Tourism Cares, has launched the “Meaningful Travel Map of Jordan”, a map, comprising 12 touristic experiences. It is aimed to benefit both international travellers and the local communities.

This map on sustainable tourism offers the international visitors experiences conducted by Jordanian non-profit organisations and other local enterprises. The aim of the sustainable tourism map is to provide the international and the Middle East tourists with quality cultural experiences while also benefitting the underprivileged local population.

The map was launched during the opening sessions of Tourism Cares with Jordan. The event brought together more than 70 delegates from the United States and Europe and 40 representatives from Jordanian tourism sector.

The tourism minister Lina Annab said that the communities have as much to offer as the heritage of Jordan has more to explore. Annab noted that the trip to Jordan would not complete without a visit to Petra or Wadi Rum.

During the sessions, reference was made to limit the social tourism experiences on the map such as the Bani Hamida Women’s Weaving Project or the recently-founded Jordan Trail Association.
