His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan reaffirmed the need to unite efforts concerning recovery of the tourism sector and increasing its competitiveness.
At a meeting with representatives of the tourism sector, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah highlighted the need for the private and public sectors to work together for improving the economy, placing importance on sectors that are reopening, especially tourism.
His Majesty urged escalating efforts to develop the tourism product in the Kingdom, along with promoting it locally, regionally and internationally.
The King also stressed speeding up vaccination of workers in tourism over and reopening of tourist facilities, in keeping with health protocols.
The King stressed the need to promote tourism to the “Golden Triangle” of Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba, and also via the “Urdun Jannah” programme, and relaunching of promotion campaigns for incoming tourists.
His Majesty spoke about new low-cost carriers for increasing the number of incoming tourists, and urged private sector representatives to maintain cooperation and planning with the government for elevating the sector’s performance, which holds enormous potential.
