Delegates at World Travel Market in London listened about the Jordan tourism industry’s road to recovery after the damaging impacts of the pandemic. Jordan Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez said that tourism income is improving since the beginning of this year.
The minister said that low-cost carriers have contributed to the revival, with budget airlines like Ryanair, Easy Jet, Wizz Air and Transavia helping increase the number of flights to Jordan.
Fayez also spoke about the scopes of investment in tourism and hotel industries, especially in southern Jordan.
Abdul Razzaq Arabiyyat, the Director-General of the JTB said that their purpose is to realize the visitor numbers before the pandemic.
Arabiyyat said that the number of tourists from the Arabian Gulf visiting Jordan this year surpassed that of 2019. Approximately 4,500 tourists come to the ancient city of Petra every day, and there are 2,518 every day visitors to Jerash Governorate, which are the highest numbers since the pandemic. Visitor numbers like these are a positive sign of recovery, said Arabiyyat.
The Director-General also talked about the Jordan Pass, which allows trouble-free entry to more than 40 Jordanian tourist sites. Besides, he also emphasized on campaigns by travel businesses Expedia and Skyscanner that are upholding Jordan for visitors to the region throughout the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which starts on the 20th of this month, together with incentives programs for global trip planners and charter flight operators.
