The Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel was on a visit to the huge Kantharpur banyan tree located near Gandhinagar and took notice of all the current works for improvement of the site, which would come up as an important religious tourism attraction.

As per the directions of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the ‘Kantharpur Mahakali Vad’ is getting developed by the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board as a significant tourism spot.

The first stage of the development works would be carried on spending Rs. 6 crore and it has been taken up, which comprises works like landscaping, spaces for meditation, exhibition halls, pathways and meeting area.

The entire project would alter the gigantic banyan tree into a noteworthy religious tourism site and it would cost Rs. 14.96 crore. The Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board has been asked to finish the project within a specific time frame. Gujarat CM Patel met and spoke with the local residents and children at the said site.

The ‘Kantharpur Vad’ is thought to be around 500 years old, and it is also known as ‘Mini Kabirvad’. Huge numbers of devotees visit the place, with a temple of goddess Mahakali positioned under the banyan tree. The area of the banyan tree is on a stretch of more than half an acre, said the Gujarat state government. It is poised to attract tourists from far and near.
