The Government’s decision to reopen Kashmir for tourists in a phased way is bringing hopes for the tourism players in the Valley, after it was closed for tourists in the wake of the corona virus.

Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez said, “Kashmir is ready to welcome tourists.” After the J&K government imposed a lockdown in the Valley with travel related restrictions, the administration has now announced a phased reopening in the midst of decline number of deaths and positive cases.

This decision has brought cheer for the tourism stakeholders in the Valley and it is once again ready to welcome back tourists. Coming of tourists once again in the Valley has ignited hope for several shikarawalas, houseboat owners, hoteliers, restaurant owners, ponywalas and handicraft dealers in the region.

Hoteliers in J&K have also welcomed this phased reopening and have expressed optimism regarding inflow of tourists.
