KCCI executive committee holds meeting with Secretary Tourism

KCCI executive committee led by its President Javed Ahmad Tengaorganized a comprehensive meeting with Syed Abid Rashid Shah, theSecretary Tourism at Hotel TajVivanta.

The KCCI explainedthe Secretary regarding the currentposition of tourism, increasing tourist numbers and the threats faced by the tourism stakeholders.

A thorough sector-specific fact sheet emphasizing the glitchesencountered by the hospitality industry, such as hotels & houseboats, travel, tour and transport segments andrestaurants among others.

The secretary was explained in detail about thedifficulties faced in the replenishment of registration certificates, problems of Pollution Control Board, restructuring & OTS of bank loans, fire and emergency services, hotel & restaurant lease problems, annoyanceencountered by travelers at Pahalgham, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and other tourist hotspots.

The Secretary was briefed regardingthe problem of houseboats in replenishment, maintenances and rebuilding of USP and Heritage Houseboats segment. KCCI asked for his support in doubling the amount of sponsored timber essential for systematicmaintenance and preservation of houseboats every other year.

KCCI mentionedorganizing tourism promotional fairs countrywide and also globally tomatch with the rank and standing of the Association.

The Secretary was also informed about the complications faced by tourist taxi and maxi operators from the traffic police by being stopped at numerous places for testing their registration and other documents.
