Kentucky floods are threatening the elderly with the second attack

The floods in Kentucky have caused more damage than anybody would have imagined. The management of the issue is going to take a lot more than what is already been employed. The households in most of the regions are nothing but a big heap of debris that needs to be removed as soon as possible. But, unfortunately in most cases, this is not happening.

Housing patterns make the area even more vulnerable. Many residences are scattered in smaller communities along with the road that is located at the foot of the hills. This makes the houses exposed to even dangerous areas.

In Kentucky’s Breathitt County, half of all homes are at a high risk of flooding. The data shows that there is a significant amount of danger involved in the infrastructure which includes the non-functionality for the technology.

People between the age group of 54-56 are suffering the most. They cannot access the senior citizen welfare but they are not very healthy either to relocate the mudbrick-like remains of individual property out of the house. most people do not earn more than the bare minimum which leaves them with little to no backup.

Any property in and around the affected area is very close to the riverside. Breathitt County’s poverty rate is 28%. This is more than double the national poverty rate of 11%. The median home value of $53,000. This is still less than a quarter of the national average. The data has been shared by U.S Census Bureau.

The area is now filled with debris and rubbish mostly. The local people are taking active participation in rebuilding the area with food distribution, blanket distribution and more for building a shelter.
