Kenya Airways Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) has reached a major milestone by securing the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part-145 Certification. This achievement reinforces the airline’s commitment to upholding world-class aviation maintenance standards and broadening its global footprint in aircraft servicing and repairs.

Expanded Maintenance Capabilities

With this certification, Kenya Airways AMO is now authorized to provide high-level maintenance services, including:

• Base Maintenance for Embraer E190 and Boeing 737-700/800/900 aircraft.
• Line Maintenance for Boeing 787-8, Embraer E190, and Boeing 737-700/800/900 models.
• Aircraft Component Maintenance under category C14.
• Specialized Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services in category D1.

This certification allows Kenya Airways to conduct both routine and extensive maintenance on European-registered aircraft, as well as others operating under international jurisdictions. With EASA recognition, components serviced by Kenya Airways AMO can now be installed in aircraft worldwide, ensuring compliance with the highest global aviation safety and maintenance standards.

The attainment of the EASA Part-145 Certification marks a turning point for Kenya Airways AMO, enhancing its reputation as a leading maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider in Africa. Achieving EASA certification required an extensive review of 415 compliance actions, including facility enhancements, recruitment of specialized personnel, procedural upgrades, and procurement of advanced equipment.

By fostering teamwork and leveraging cross-functional expertise, Kenya Airways AMO successfully aligned with EASA’s stringent requirements in just nine months, culminating in its formal application for certification in January 2024.
