The tourism exposition which is scheduled to kick-start from 2nd and continue till 4th October 2019 will be preceded by tours arranged for the business buyers to various tourist attractions all over the country from 27th September to 1st October 2019.
“We shall showcase our rich products and experiences to the buyers to enable them to get first-hand exposure of what magical Kenya has to offer before a three-day exhibition,” says KTB Chief Executive Officer Dr. Betty Radier.
By now, 164 hosted buyers and 20 foreign media personalities have confirmed their presence for the event. This has also attracted tourism boards from the region like Rwanda Development Board, Uganda Tourism Board, Tanzania Tourism Board, Seychelles Tourism Board and Zimbabwe Tourism Board.
Radier mentioned that the expo offers chance for 211 local exhibitors like hotels and travel agencies to make the most from a lucrative promotional platform that offers new business opportunities through interaction with international trade.
Seminars with convincing themes on various tourism trends will also be presented during the three-day expo.
As per the CEO, the number of hosted buyers and exhibitors recorded a 15% and 3% respectively in comparison to the last year expo, a trend she observed was an witness to the growing recognition of MKTE as Africa’s show of choice as well as Kenya’s global stature as a MICE destination.
Hosted buyers are mainly travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers and trade media from the prime tourism source markets of Kenya in continents like Europe, Africa, Asia and the America. “This is yet another opportunity for our hospitality industry to network and explore business opportunities at the leading travel trade expo in East Africa,” added Radier.
