Kenya relying on Indian market to boost tourism

Kenya is depending much on the growing desire for leisure travel among young Indians and professionals for propelling its tourism entrances from the Asian country.


Kenya is aiming to boost its number of visitors from India. India is among the top five performing tourism source markets for Kenya.The arrivals from India are exceeding the 2019 statistics of more than 120,000.
Last year, Kenya witnessed entrances from the Indian source market register a record development. From 42,159 in 2021, the figures went up to 81,458 in 2022.


This shows a retrieval of 67 per cent when compared to the 2019 statistics of 120,893. Willy Bett, the Kenyan High Commissioner to India said that the Indian community has the prospective to improve global tourism visitation to Kenya.


Bett said that the present travel inclination shows that the sector has an increasing disposable income and people are all set to travel to tourist destinations of their choice.


The High Commissioner said that this section has gathered a lot of popularity in India, and people are equipped to devote time and spend lavishly for their travels. Kenya is in the right place to take advantage of this market and nurture the tourism trade.


Speaking during the launch of Outbound Travel Mart (OTM), a tourism fair in Mumbai, Bett stated that comfort of entrance and close connections between Kenya and India are important factors for tourism enterprises and other investments in Kenya.
