The Tourism Minister of Kerala P.A. Mohammed Riyas said that the state government will frame a detailed plan for improving water tourism.
On Thursday, the Minister unveiled the Pullupikadavu Tourism Project executed by the Tourism department at Narath grama panchayat.
A water adventure tourism venture at Pullupikadavu, which is a branch of the Valapatnam River, has received a governmental approval of Rs. 4.15 crore.
Minister Riyas said that the water recreation tourism project would be stretched across the state of Kerala.
The Minister said that Kerala would create an all-time record soon concerning the restoration of tourism after the pandemic. On the other hand, foreign tourist arrivals in Kerala have weakened, said Minister Riyas.
For luring maximum number of foreign tourists, Kerala tourism needs to be publicized abroad. The Kerala Tourism department is aiming to attract more than one lakh French citizens to the state by upholding Kerala tourism at an impending tourism expo in Paris.
Minister Riyas said that foreign tourist influx in the Malabar region is only 6% of the total arrival in Kerala. The percentage is only 3% in Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
