Based on experimental tourism initiatives in Kerala, Kerala Tourism is now finding ways to make use of the prospective of Conscious Travel. It is an evolving global inclination which takes into consideration the influence of leisure travel on the environment, general public and culture of a region.

In this new theory, tourists will be motivated to embark on enduring journeys to a specific region instead of the old-style mass tourism, where a huge number of tourists visit popular holiday spots for short time duration.

In the event of mass tourism, even though it is helpful for the shareholders, the indigenous community will have to tolerate the ‘unconscious’ activities of an uncontrolled population. The new notion minimizes the influence of mass tourism on native communities, although it presents travelers with a new experience.

P.A. Mohamed Riyas, the Tourism Minister of Kerala said that the state has thought about encouraging travelers to take moderately lengthier journeys to a specific place and halt there for a short-lived period, associating with the native population and getting to know the local food, culture and products that are made in that area.

Monsoon in Kerala is one of the best features that can be promoted sensibly. Tourists will get an opportunity to witness the rain-drenched rural splendor of Kerala, along with viewing the diverse shades of the monsoon and experiencing holistic Ayurvedic wellness cure with this concept.
