Kerala Tourism to market Onam celebrations globally

Kerala Tourism will do what’s required for publicizing Onam celebrations as a tourism product worldwide by coming up with inventive campaigns, said the Tourism Minister of Kerala P A Mohamed Riyas.

Minister Riyas was speaking after inaugurating an event for giving away of prizes of various contests connecting to the cultural pageantry and global Onam ‘pookalam’ organized by the Tourism Department as part of the week-long Onam revelries by the Kerala Government.

Minister Riyas said that Onam has become a symbol of spirit, optimism and equality. It has become an important product that can lure both domestic and foreign tourists. With the creation of tourism clubs in certain foreign cities including London, the Kerala tourism department has already made efforts for marketing next year’s Onam internationally.

The minister said that by showcasing the exclusive features of various destinations, the state tourism department would be able to make sure that there is greater tide of tourists to Kerala from around the world during Onam.

Supervising the function, Transport Minister Antony Raju praised the works of the Tourism department and the public for making the Onam festivities a state-wide achievement.

Minister Riyas said that the large public involvement during this Onam was praiseworthy, making the celebrations exceptional!

Extending the backing of his department to the ingenuities of the Tourism Department, Raju said that KSRTC and KTDC have cooperatively scheduled to adapt 20 more KSRTC buses into food courts.
