Majority of visitors to Jamaica are acquainted with the island’s main tourism districts. However, there is one destination that is conspicuously missing from most Jamaican travel schedules for the past half-century, i.e. the capital city of Kingston.

This is, however, about to change in a big way. Jamaica is a comparatively small island nation of about three million people.

Thanks to Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley, Usain Bolt and many others, billions of people around the world are aware with the Jamaican way of life.

Kingston, the capital city of Jamaica, is the undisputed cultural soul of Jamaica.

Still, comparatively few visitors to Jamaica visit Kingston, which has combated the drawbacks of being far from the island’s sought after beach destinations and also a reputation for offense and gang-related happenings.

However, now, a different image of Kingston is developing, driven by improved visits to the city by cruise ships and an ambition to enable the lively native creative community by fashioning a new arts district that would grab the soul of Kingston’s downtown waterfront area.

Carey Wallace, the executive director of Jamaica’s Tourism Enhancement Fund said that they are increasing their tourism contributions outside the north and west coasts of Jamaica, which leads Jamaica’s tourism-related arrangement and human-capital expansion. He said that Jamaica is sufficiently big to present a diversity of offerings. One can come to Jamaica and acquire so many experiences.
