Klook and Google Cloud have announced an enhanced partnership focused on expanding Klook’s AI capabilities across its organization, aiming to address the key needs of travelers and merchants alike.
This renewed collaboration builds on Klook’s recent achievements using Google Cloud’s AI, particularly in leveraging generative AI for content creation and localization. This innovation has reduced production time by over 80%, while also improving both translation accuracy and content quality. Additionally, Klook’s engineering teams have seen a 60% boost in code review efficiency and a 70% enhancement in platform performance, thanks to the integration of Google’s generative AI tools into their software development and testing workflows.
Klook’s new AI infrastructure will drive its innovation strategy over the next year, focusing on alleviating common challenges faced by:
Travelers: In response to user feedback and platform analytics, Klook will soon introduce a “shopping guide” feature. This tool will enable travelers to make informed decisions between similar experiences, utilizing generative AI to summarize reviews and highlight key factors for easier comparison—marking a first for online travel agencies in Asia.
Merchants: Klook plans to launch solutions aimed at helping partners gain valuable insights and enhance operational efficiency. One recent initiative has transformed user reviews into actionable feedback for travel merchants, leading to notable service improvements. For instance, one merchant utilized this feedback to develop a new attraction product, which now represents 24% of their total revenue.
Internal Teams: Klook engineers are beginning to leverage Gemini Code Assist for testing and code generation, while other departments, such as marketing and finance, are exploring ways to automate time-consuming tasks like search engine optimization (SEO) and bill reconciliation.
Google Cloud will work closely with Klook to co-develop its AI infrastructure, initially focusing on ensuring the accuracy and reliability of generative AI outputs. Klook will leverage Google Cloud’s expertise to adhere to responsible AI practices, enhance the technical skills of its engineering team, and facilitate smooth transitions to emerging AI technologies. Earlier this year, Klook adopted Google’s Gemini foundation model, resulting in improved translation accuracy compared to the previous PaLM-2 model, while Google Cloud’s core APIs have stabilized Klook’s infrastructure amid ongoing AI advancements.
Klook’s AI strategy will increasingly utilize feedback from travelers and insights from merchants to drive meaningful enhancements. User reviews and destination data are already integral to developing an AI-driven conversational commerce model—one that offers real-time, personalized recommendations akin to those from a travel expert. This approach will streamline trip planning and booking, making it interactive and tailored to each traveler’s unique preferences. Existing AI solutions, such as generative AI for travel page creation, will further leverage Klook’s extensive database of reviews and destination insights to deliver authentic and engaging experiences for travelers.
